From my archives. View of Johannesburg from the old Top Star Drive-in. It was situated on top of a mine dump, overlooking the city. I shot this image a few days before the famous landmark was demolished.

From my archives. The final days of the old Top Star drive-in, Johannesburg. The mine dump on top of which the facility was situated was re-mined and the famous icon torn down.

From my archives. Old Top Star Drive-in, Johannesburg. It was situated on top of a mine dump overlooking the city. The dump was in the process of being re-mined and a week after I shot this image, the icon on the skyline was gone.

Robberg Nature Reserve near Plettenberg Bay, Eastern Cape, South Africa.

Cosmos. A familiar sight in many parts of South Africa in autumn. The flower is not indigenous to the country but was introduced in horse feed imported from South America, by the British during the Boer War.
